A re-post from August– The other day, Claire and I were walking up the stairs. She looked at me and said, “I happy mommy.” Just a simple statement. No follow-up, no expectations. We weren’t doing anything special, just walking up the stairs holding hands.
Many times in our lives we focus on what is not right and we miss the happiness that is right in front of us. What if we were able to pause, just in a moment and notice when we are happy? We are very good at noticing when we are not happy or in need of change and sharing this disappointment with others, but how often do we notice the good as well.
This week, dedicate your practice to notice those times in your life when you are truly content. Not the exuberant, over-excited thing, but the calm joyful feeling that resides deep within. When you notice it, stop, smile, turn to someone close to you and tell them “I happy.”
